Local artists are exhibiting again at the recently refurbished Moller Pavilion inside the Bangalow Showgrounds. Original paintings in oil and acrylics; limited edition prints; glass objects of desire; hand-knitted beenies, scarfs and originals; sculpture (steel and ceramic); books/cards/magnets and other arty gifts. Bessie Gibson, An Artistic Life
Bessie Gibson
In collaboration with the family of Bessie Gibson The Tweed River Art Gallery is delighted to present a small exhibition of the work by one of Australia's most accomplished and recognised painters of the 1920s and 1930s. A number of exquisite miniatures are assembled in this exhibition alongside other works that were produced during her life abroad, including a number of watercolours that exemplify her flair for colour and fluidity of line.

These allegorical works caution us that life is both precious and perishable. Giese is a Northern Rivers based artist who has had a devoted practice for over 25 years. Robert Moore Likes Dogs

This exhibition of new work includes paintings, works on paper and textiles from nationally recognised Clarence Valley artist, Robert Moore. Robert splits his time between two homes, one in the Clarence Valley and the other in Indonesia. I Like Dogs reflects the influence of both these locations. From tropical landscapes to cultural events the artist is inspired by the natural environment and the people and animals that populate it.

Roland Harvey
Roland Harvey is a children's book illustrator. His popular picture book, At the Beach: Postcards from Crabby Spit, uses individual postcards to tell the tale of one family's adventures during a quintessential Australian beach family holiday. The images are depicted from the artist's trade-mark bird's eye view and through it all the artist rides on his old pushbike, with easel and paints for his artist's holiday. This exhibition of drawings is sure to engage all ages.

Shell Shocked: Australia after Armistice
National Archives
A new touring exhibition from the National Archives of Australia reveals the legacy of sorrow endured by thousands of Australians following World War I. Shell Shocked: Australia after Armistice explores the personal impact of war on Australian men, women and children and the nation's attempts to recover from the loss or injury of almost three-quarters of its soldiers serving overseas. The exhibition features photographs, personal letters, service files and memorabilia.

Ted Harvey
In the 1970s freelance photographer Ted Harvey was in a prime position. His large format camera put him right in the front row at concerts by international rock acts such as Iggy Pop and David Bowie, which were touring Australia and transforming music culture, nationally and internationally. He zoomed in and captured the very essence of these events and the time, the known and lesser known people who coloured the culture of this era.

Table Manners, A Visual Feast

This exhibition is curated by Suvira McDonald and features hand made ceramic tableware and sculpture by artist Malcolm Greenwood, Suvira McDonald and Sue Fraser, Ikebana by Di Morrison, hand-dyed textiles by Kirsten Ingmar. Monique Guterres-Harrison from Seaweed Cuisine will style the elements of functional ceramics, sculpture, textiles, and Ikebana floral assemblages as a number of unique settings.

The Coraki Connection

The Coraki Connection is a sampler of the extraordinary talent that we have in the Valley of Surprises! All exhibiting artists have a strong connection to Coraki and the Coraki Art Prize, which takes place at the end of October annually. The artistic smorgasbord features professional photographer Jimmy Malecki, painters Ana Thompson, Nikky Morgan-Smith and Vanessa Kapeen, sculptor and printmaker Christine Spedding and jeweller Michael Penklis.
