Mullumbimby

I am passionate about contemporary textiles - shibori, felt, stitch, rozome. I'm also passionate about sculpture andmy textiles are often installations. Having recently relocated to Mullumbimby, I bring with me a body of works that are wearable, sculptural and fine art. My textiles aim to articulate a sense of place, connecting threads of different places and different times. During post grad study at Monash University I was awarded the Monash Post Graduate Studio Position in Italy, Palazzo Vaj, Prato, Tuscany. I traveled to remote Pitjatjanjara Lands in the far north west of South Australia as invited researcher. After stringent editing, I was granted approval to speak, in international forums, about the practice of batik by the women of Ernabella. I have traveled for research purposes to Africa, Japan, America, Europe and many places in Asia and am frequently invited as speaker and exhibitor for international textiles conferences.
