Nominate for the 2018 NSW Creative Achievement Awards

Minister for Trade and Industry Niall Blair is calling on the state’s brightest creative talent to nominate for the 2018 NSW Creative Achievement Awards. The awards, held on June 12 in Sydney, celebrate and reward the state’s outstanding creative industries achievements.

‘Our creative industries are significant drivers of innovation, jobs and economic growth and deserve strong recognition,’ Mr Blair said. ‘There’s so much diversity – from visual and performing arts including dance, music and theatre to digital and traditional media including film, television, radio, web design, publishing and advertising, and even architecture.

‘Creative industries are also big business for NSW employing around 212,600 people – around 42 per cent of Australia’s creative workforce.

Three award categories are open for nomination – the NSW Creative Laureate, the NSW Emerging Creative Talent Award, and for the first time a $3,000 NSW Young Creative Award.

Leading fashion label Romance Was Born’s Anna Plunkett said winning the NSW Emerging Creative Talent Award last year’s helped them access new markets.

‘This award has opened new doors in areas we would not have expected for our business. It’s great for brands to receive industry recognition and it’s super important they are supported in this way to grow awareness,’ Ms Plunkett said.

With a $15,000 prize, the NSW Emerging Creative Talent Award recognises an individual, team or organisation that has shown originality and innovation and contributed to raising the global profile of NSW creative industries.

The NSW Creative Laureate recognises a candidate who has made a significant contribution to increasing the industry’s global profile and the $3,000 NSW Young Creative Award will recognise contributions made by those aged up to 25.

The NSW Creative Laureate winner will join a roll-call of past prestigious winners including Plastic Wax, Saatchi & Saatchi Australia and Animal Logic.
