Arts Northern Rivers works closely with the seven Local Government Authorities (LGAs) of the region. Representatives from these LGAs comprise our Board of Directors.
Susan Meehan is a Councillor for Ballina Shire Council and a special needs teacher at Ballina Public School. She is Chair of the Northern Rivers Regional Art Gallery Committee and the Ballina Shire Regional Library delegate. Sue is married and a mother to adult children and has a life long interest in Australian art.
Ruth is the Director of Kyogle Council’s Roxy Gallery and has a long and impressive history in arts and cultural development. She has been extensively involved in developing the Kyogle Council Cultural Strategy, and progressing the development of a Kyogle Cultural Precinct and is an active member of RealArtWorks Inc. and the Kyogle and District Arts Council.
Wayne is the Director of Corporate Services for Richmond Valley Council responsible for finance, administration, human resources, aged care, libraries, tourism and economic development, information services and arts and culture. Wayne has a strong interest in the arts, particularly the performing and visual arts and is a founding member of the Board.
Joan is former Mayor and present Councillor for Tweed Shire Council. She brings to Arts Northern Rivers comprehensive experience in business administration, management and working in the not-for-profit sector promoting and fundraising for organisations such as: Lifeline, Church of Christ Aged Care, World Vision and the Royal Hospital for Women Foundation. She owns and runs “Eve International” a women’s forum to develop self-worth, developed specifically for women who have experienced Domestic Violence. Joan is also a board member for Tweed River Art Gallery and TSC Audit Committee and has previously served on the board of Destination Tweed.
Jude McBean is the Director of the Grafton Regional Gallery Director, a major cultural service of the Clarence Valley Council. She works to develop the potential of the regional gallery and advocates for the recognition of the actual and intrinsic value of the arts and creative industries.
Wendy is the Manager, Arts, Tourism and Leisure for Lismore Council, and prior to this position, started in the role of Lismore’s Manager, Community Services in 2001. She has a strong interest in the arts – especially dance, literature and music, and is also a keen lover of sport, recreation, health and fitness.
