Arts Northern Rivers is excited to announce the appointment of our new CEO/Regional Arts Development Officer, Peter Wood who will commence with us in January 2012.
Peter brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge, having worked in the arts and creative industries for over 20 years.
He has held senior marketing and communication roles with Company B Belvoir, Sydney Opera House, Historic Houses Trust NSW, Assembly Theatre (Edinburgh) and most recently as the Marketing Director for Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Peter has also previously worked at Arts Northern Rivers in the role of Communications and Information officer from 2006 to 2008, so will be a familiar face to many.
During this time here he worked with the Visual Arts Network coordinator to develop the VAN business plan and also with local artists, businesses and local government representatives to support and develop arts and cultural industry activity in the region.
Arts Northern Rivers Chairperson Sue Meehan says she welcomes Peter's appointment and the diverse skill set that he will bring to the role.
'We are really looking forward to having Peter on board, and excited to work with him in developing and progressing the great work that is already being done in the region by our organisation,' she said.
'Arts Northern Rivers has positioned itself as a leader in the design, development and delivery of innovative arts and creative industries programs in Northern NSW. We know that Peter will relish the opportunity to further enhance that reputation.'
'I'd also like to say thank you to Julie Clark who has been acting in the role for the past six months and who has worked incredibly effectively to get the place ship- shape for the new CEO's arrival. Not only has she implemented this year's program, but also laid the foundations for a solid 2012.'
According to Peter, 'I'm thrilled to be returning to the Northern Rivers, and so is my partner and my Australian Cattle Dog who never forgave me for taking her to cold and chilly Melbourne!'
Peter will commence at Arts Northern Rivers on January 9. Julie Clark will be heading off to Africa for six weeks over Christmas and returning to her role as part-time Communications Officer in February.
