New Year's Goals from The Hive

Eight members of The Hive share their goals for 2012. Across art, design, music, fashion, film and writing, they are all focused on their creative practice and their business.

Mick Daley
I'm doing a PhD in Environmental Advocacy, so will be trying to use my writing, empathy and sheer force of will to alert the world, or at least Australia, to the urgency of catastrophic climate change, challenging globalised corporate capitalism, and listening to decent music.

Susan Fell McLean
Having moved to Northern Rivers last year from Victoria, I am hoping to make new creative connections, collaborate and show my latest work. I am inspired by my new environment and am keen to see how this now informs my textiles and sculptures.

Sarah Harvey
As an artist my goal is to be constantly creating, searching for new ideas and expressions, and being inspired by the little things in life, my kids and my imagination. This year I hope to make new bodies of work, attract new audiences, further my boundaries and explore new mediums. I love to create work that surprises and delights myself and others!

Jenny and Jason from Riley Burnett
To have a healthy happy 2012 and prove the media wrong in the observation that the economy is in a state of disaster by having great year in Riley Burnett sales.

Kellie from Mango Tree Media
My creative goals for next year are to continue growing a client base in the arts industry, both locally and nationally, to paint, draw, sing and design great stuff and to be recognised as one of the best designers in the area for outstanding customer service, innovative concept design and lush imagery for bands, writers, festivals, film and art professionals alike.

Cate Mcquillen from Dirt Girl World
In dirtgirlworld, 2012 is all about moving our audience from viewing to doing.

Belinda Smith
2012 should be a year of experimenting and developing new work. I will be exhibiting new work at Craft ACT in Canberra and at a small gallery later in the year in Toowoomba. Textile crafts such as knitting and crochet are inspiring me at the moment and will be combined with ceramic and found objects.

Chantal Barber and Blair Beattie, Goddess of Babylon
We're always looking to introduce new products to the range and finding new clients for our product, and so next year we hope to further establish ourselves in the USA, while also attracting more local visitors to our store in Arts & Industry Estate. But perhaps the most exciting thing for us and our customers next year is the possibility that we may open a store/cafe in Bali. Watch this space...
