The Northern Rivers NSW Creative Industries Brokers present an update on how these exciting initiatives are developing and aiding local artists, musicians and designers:
Digital / Screen Broker Update
Screenworks is using social media and the web to connect with the region's
digital and screen creatives. The exciting aspect about the digital / screen
project is that we know we will unearth people and organisations doing amazing
work, who've been under Screenworks' radar.
The survey for producers, creatives and services in the digital arena can be accessed on the Screenworks website www.screenworks.com.au
There are many exciting upcoming opportunities including a forum on Saturday 30th October at Mullum Civic Centre (lots more details to come soon, but put the date in your diaries.)
We anticipate the Networking and Market Accelerator meetings
to create new markets and new partnerships.
Contact Jill Moonie digital@screenworks.com.au, join us on Facebook and
complete the survey.
Music Broker Update
At this point in the project, the Music Brokers are continuing with their
mapping of the area which is
moving into its next phase - focusing on musicians.
Concurrently, they're distributing an Industry Activity Survey to gauge the levels of expertise and development within the region, preparing to announce the opening of Expressions of Interest for the accelerated brokering program and finalising the professional development and networking event with exciting keynote speakers to be announced soon.

Fashion Broker Update
I am currently mapping the scope of fashion business in the area and
identifying needs, aims and outcomes for the project.
It is immediately apparent that this industry sector is excited about developing further, but is hampered by the isolation that practitioners experience. So one of the first aims of the project will be to get people together to network.
Another apparent need is to be able to market our fashion products successfully outside the geographical area without having to have a physical entity within any of the city centres. There is a need to develop a fashion entity for the region that can assist in marketing designers both to major buyers and boutiques. Strengthening the industry is a major concern of the project.
There is also the possibility of developing a buying group that may lead to less expensive costs in materials and transport that can also be explored.
We are working towards developing an industry forum to develop these ideas further with the help of experts in the field.
It is so exciting to work with the fashion industry in this area. Everyone is so creative and destined for bigger and better things. All are excited and many have felt the need for this to happen for some time. There is a great deal of enthusiasm!
