Creative Industries Broker Project Update

This month, our Creative Industries Brokers have been working hard to secure details for these exciting events.

On Saturday 30th October, the 2010 Digital Forum will take place at the Mullumbimby Civic Hall. This event, in partnership with Arts Northern Rivers, recognises the importance of the digital screen market for regional Australia and will explore how to create opportunities for regional players. The speakers will delve into the directions that 3D animation, games, phone apps and web content are heading towards and explore where the digital dollars can be made.

Screenworks, the Digital and Screen Broker for the project, announces that it has attracted speakers from top Australian companies working in digital animation, games, smart phone apps and web content.

Jill Moonie, General Manager of Screenworks commented "The proof that this region produces high level creatives, is that two of the speakers grew up in this region. All aspiring and working local digital creators and developers should be interested in what these speakers have to say and have achieved."

Brett Feeney, Head of Production at George Millers company, Dr D Studios, and currently in production on Happy Feet 2 and Fury Road, will speak about the market for 3D animation, bringing stories to life on the big screen and sourcing top talent to achieve that. Brett is a Grafton boy who has held a key role on the Academy Award winning Happy Feet 1, Matrix Reloaded, Babe Pig in the City and Lord of the Rings.

John Passfield, Creative Director of 3 Blokes Studios in Brisbane, is a veteran of the computer games industry co-founding some of Australia's first games development companies, including Interactive Binary, Gee Whiz Entertainment and Krome Studios in 1990 which employed 350 people and created TY the Tasmanian Tiger series. John who grew up in Casino is passionate about social gaming and has led the creative direction on a number of Facebook games including Brainiversity, Hospital Town, Virtual Villagers, and soon to be released title, Galactic Trader.

The Forum will provide opportunities for practitioners to not only listen to the speakers, but to sit at a round tables session and discuss their own projects, ideas and career development directly with the speakers. Screenworks will announce the full list of speakers and the program over the coming weeks.

Early Bird ticket prices for Screenworks members $35 + booking fee, non members $45 + booking fee are available from 29th September to 15th October on line via http://screenworks.eventbrite.com or via Screenworks website.
