Return to Country

Return to Country is an exhibition of new works by leading male Bundjalung artists, reflecting on the return to country of three historic Bundjalung clubs, circa 1850 to 1860.

Presented in partnership with Grafton Regional Gallery, and curated by Arts Northern Rivers Indigenous Arts Development Officer, Robert Appo, the show features paintings by Charlie Caldwell, Digby Moran, Eric Ferguson, Jai Walker, Joey Davis, Luke Close, Marcus Ferguson, Michael Philp, Oral Laurie, Oral Roberts, Ray Roberts and Scott Rotumah.

Return to Country opens Friday May 25, with a Curator’s floortalk at 5.30pm, followed by the official opening at 6pm.

On Tuesday May 29, Marcus Ferguson, Aboriginal Sites Offices for the Jalia Land Council, will present a schools program exploring Bunjalung Boondies in the Grafton Gallery collection and other Bundjalung artefacts.
