Creative industries

The creative industries can be defined as those areas of professional practice that have their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent, and which have potential for wealth and job creation.

Examples include professional practices such as design, fashion, film, music, performing arts, publishing, software, television and the visual arts, amongst many others.

A recent state government report identified the Northern Rivers as having the highest creative industry employment growth in NSW,  more than double the growth rate of Sydney.

Local employment in the arts and creative industries in the region is growing 25 percent faster than the rest of the regional economy.

We also have the highest density of creative workers per capita in the state, outside of the capital city.
