Northern Rivers Celebrates Bundjalung Culture

The Northern Rivers community gathered with enthusiasm on Saturday to celebrate the creative and cultural heritage of the Bundjalung region at Arts Northern Rivers’ Art on Bundjalung Market.

Featuring over 30 local Indigenous artists, the program was joined by live music, dance and digeridoo performances, native food stalls and weaving workshops.

Audiences travelled from far and wide to purchase weavings, ceramics, carvings, photographs, paintings and textiles from many stall holders. The market was a huge success for all participating artists both emerging and established.

Arts Northern Rivers Indigenous Arts Officer, Kylie Caldwell, said:

“The artists are so pleased with the turnout of Saturday’s event, exceeding their sales expectations. Arts Northern Rivers is looking forward to travelling this event across the entire region, sharing authentic Bundjalung culture and providing our local artists ongoing opportunities to reach new audiences.”

The market will continue to travel across the Northern Rivers region into the future, with 2022 looking towards events in Kyogle and the Tweed Shire.
