What is Open Space?
The Creative Industries Recovery Forum will follow an Open Space format and be facilitated by Monica Davidson and her team from Creative Plus Business. We encourage participants from the Creative Industries across all areas of the Northern Rivers to attend and contribute their ideas.
Open Space is a technique for running meetings where the participants create and manage the agenda themselves. This format is guided by one law and four principles –
The Law of Two Feet
Any person finding themselves in a situation where they are neither learning nor contributing, can join a more productive discussion.
The Four Principles
- Whoever comes is the right people
- Whatever happens is the only thing that could have
- Whenever it starts is the right time
- When it’s over, it’s over
Participants will be invited to submit a wide range of ideas/desires/issues they would like to discuss. The event facilitators will then form an agenda by time and place of where ranging topics will be discussed. Participants will be able to move between these discussion areas as they desire, meeting others who wish to dive deeper into certain topics with aligning peers. The event facilitators will be documenting each of these discussions, collating notes into a real time Book of Proceedings which will inform the ideas and projects proposed as outcomes of this event.
Open Space allows for inspiration to grow in the room, creating a humming dialogue and a sense of possibility of positive change.
