Playground Festival Gives Kids Something to Scream About!

The Quad is thrilled to be launching a new day packed full of fun for kids and their families on Saturday 6th October. This one day mini-festival is a collaboration between The Quad and Lismore Regional Gallery and will profile leading children’s arts companies such as Roudabout Theatre and 100 Wonder Place.

Also on the bill are The Pitts Family Circus, who will be running free shows throughout the day, the Byron Writers Festival storyboard bus will host a pop-up tipi playspace and a workshop from local author Zanni Louise. The Funmaker Silent disco will be playing up a storm all day and Lismore Regional Gallery’s infamous tour guide Peggy Popart will be taking art tours and running a host of interactive and hands-on workshops througout the day.

Local favourites Roundabout Theatre are presenting their POP UP PLAY SPACE with the infamous Lollipop ladies. Giant twister, silly races, extended hopscotch, limbo, dancing, chasing games, obstacle courses and loads more! Also invited are a bevy of Roundabout theatre’s whimsical and magical characters. Helix the Snail has left on the journey already (he may or may not arrive in time) and Sugar Plum is coming (with mum).

The Conservatorium of Music will be running their Early Childhood Music workshops for the under 5’s and Conservatorium students will also be playing live music on the stage throughout the day. Direct from Splendour will be the seriously fun Monkey Monkey Shake Shake who will be bringing their hilarious and fantastical show complete with an array of costumes and instruments that will defintiely get you jumping!
