SITE LAB // Small Gestures Towards Infinity
SITE LAB // Small Gestures Towards Infinity is a series of five temporary public art projects in the Lismore CBD. Visit Lismore CBD from 29 July – 17 September 2023 for art in public spaces and a free program of artist talks, live listening events and sculptural activations.
Co-commissioned by Arts Northern Rivers and Lismore Regional Gallery, SITE LAB is a series of new, experimental and site-responsive work by contemporary artists, Peter Faulkner, Michael Donnelly & Betty Russ, Merinda Davies, Belinda Smith and Chris Bennie. On show 29 July – 17 September across public spaces in Lismore CBD, SITE LAB presents floating sculpture, experimental sound, living installations, and community engaged work.
This project is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW’s Visual Arts Commissioning Program, a funding stream designed to support bold and ambitious new work. SITE LAB was developed as a creative response to the loss of significant cultural infrastructure in the Northern Rivers region due to the 2022 flood events.
SITE LAB invites continuous dialogue in the public arena via experimental and site-specific responses to our regional, post-flood landscape. The program provides temporary spaces for community connection and critical discourse; positioning contemporary art practice at the forefront of the region’s recovery.

This artwork will be installed across two site over the following timeframes:
SITE A: 29 July – 19 August

A hard copy map is available at the Lismore Regional Gallery pop-up space at 46 Magellan Street (opening hours: Tues – Sat 10am – 4pm & Thurs until 6pm).
