Artist Respite 2025

Grafton Regional Gallery and Arts Northern Rivers are pleased to announce three recipients of the Artist Respite Program for 2025. This program was developed to support artists who live in the Northern Rivers areas affected by natural disasters.

The successful applicants are based in Lismore and were significantly affected by recent floods:

Holly Ahern is a contemporary jack-of-all-trades creative who works with texture, colour, scale, repetition, and design across numerous platforms. Her work constructs narratives around otherness, femininity, and the honest struggles of an overactive mind.

Kate Stroud is a maker and facilitator of music, typography, community, and atmospheres. Hand typography, lettering and her distinct eye for design has carved Stroud a career as a sign painter, graphic designer, and muralist.

Hunter Wilson is an emerging multidisciplinary artist currently exhibiting in local and group exhibitions. He  has 20 years of experience in graphic design and composition across printing, signage, and textiles.

Sarah Gurich, Director of Grafton Regional Gallery said “The Artist Respite Project is a unique partnership between Grafton Regional Gallery and Arts Northern Rivers and we are thrilled to offer this program. We look forward to welcoming Holly, Kate and Hunter to the Clarence Valley.”

Each recipient will receive an artist stipend, accommodation, direct support from the Grafton Regional Gallery and Arts Northern Rivers teams, and studio space for one week between January and June 2025 at Grafton Regional Gallery.
