Bulan Dalang Galii Naa – Artist Camp

BULAAN DALANG GALII NAA

GAN NGAA LEEN DUU

In 2023, Arts Northern Rivers supported the Returning Indigenous Corporation to deliver a four day immersive, on-country art residency program for First Nations creatives living and working on Bundjalung Country. Bulaan Dalang Galii Naa is focused on supporting emerging creative practitioners, providing opportunities to connect, explore different artforms and mediums, and upskilling in arts business.

The pilot program supported 12 emerging creatives to engage in artist masterclasses, business workshops, and cultural customs. Participants immersed themselves in storytelling and illustration, copyright and arts law, mural painting, and clay workshops with renowned artists Otis Carey, Bronwyn Bancroft, and Penny Evans.

The residency will continue for the next 12 months with ongoing mentorship and opportunities to deepen participants’ experience in mural painting and fashion design, as well as two collective exhibitions. Congratulations to all the artists involved, and thank you to The Returning for providing a nourishing week of creative cultural arts. For more information contact paris@artsnorthernrivers.com.au
