CATCH UP

CATCH UP || Tuesday 1 October 2024

1.30pm - 4pm

Drill Hall Theatre, Mullumbimby NSW 2482

The Northern Rivers Dance & Physical Theatre: CATCH UP is an opportunity to come together, connect, share ideas, goals and aspirations, and plan to create a vibrant future for the industry.

Hosted by Arts Northern Rivers (ANR) and Theatre Network Australia (TNA) the CATCH UP is a response to the Independent Dance Sector Report (2024) and one of the ANR Dance Sector Uplift Report’s key recommendations of a convergence aimed at addressing isolation and detachment, strengthening relationships, revitalising, and reactivating the sector.

Facilitated by Joshua Lowe and Steph Speirs from TNA, the CATCH UP will share some of the findings and recommendations from both reports giving an insight into the current challenges and opportunities.

Critical Path, Australia’s leading centre for choreographic development will present and share how they provide support for regionally based artists. NORPA, the Lismore based theatre making company who bring homegrown stories to life will provide an update on their goals and programs for 2025 and beyond.

Dance artists will have the opportunity to present “Firecrackers” - one minute to share a brief update on current works and practice, “Group Provocations” to engage in peer-to-peer discussions, collaborate and strategise around some of the key recommendation from the reports, and “Grounding Time”, to reflect on personal and shared goals.

Post session there will be an opportunity to regroup, socialise and continue the conversation at the National Circus Festival, dine with the artists and catch a show.
