Funding opportunity opens to strengthen the NSW arts and cultural sector
Create NSW is calling artists and cultural organisations, representing all artforms, backgrounds and regions across the state, to apply for the first round of 2023/24 Arts and Cultural Funding Program (ACFP).
Create NSW Chief Executive Annette Pitman said while the sector continues to face enormous challenges, this funding will strengthen and support the state’s talented artists and dedicated organisations to deliver a diverse range of arts and cultural experiences, spanning every artform, to communities across NSW.
“The Arts and Cultural Funding Program is aimed at fostering a vibrant, inclusive and accessible arts and cultural sector, creating both professional employment opportunities for artists and cultural workers and exciting cultural experiences for millions of people to enjoy,” Ms Pitman said.
Artists and organisations who have previously received funding through the ACFP have included landmark Australian theatre production, Sunshine Super Girl, by Andrea James, presented by Performing Lines and Sydney Festival 2021; award-winning Gomeroi rapper and master storyteller, Kobie Dee; and 2022 Sydney Festival family favourite, Fluffyby Artbomb, which premiered at Carriageworks before touring to Adelaide and Regional NSW.
The 2022/23 ACFP competitive funding rounds delivered $10,354,965 for 176 projects, employing more than 14,000 artists and cultural workers and engaging audiences of more than 5 million across NSW.
Individuals and organisations can apply for funding in four programs:
- Project funding for Individuals and Groups – up to $60,000 to support innovative, creative projects across NSW
- Project funding for organisations – up to $60,000 per project
- Creative Koori projects – up to $60,000 for NSW-based Aboriginal artists and organisations for activities that benefit First Nations artists and communities
- Annual funding for organisations (including local government authorities) – Up to $200,000 to deliver annual artistic and cultural programs
The first competitive round of Arts and Cultural Funding closes Monday 21 August, 2023.
