Auslan Creative Workshop Program

Auslan Creative invites you to join in on a weekend of workshops, with a range of activities to suit the whole family. Come down to the Deaf lounge at the Lismore Quad and join in on one or all of these exciting workshops run by some of our amazing Deaf community creatives.

Walking Tour of Lismore CBD – Join Deaf guide Jessica Martens for a stroll through Lismore CBD, and Back Alley Gallery and enjoy conversations about Deaf Northern Rivers history. Interpreted, no bookings required, meet at the Deaf Lounge at 11am on Saturday.

Visual Vernacular Workshop – Deaf performer Ivan Callaghan delivers a taster workshop of visual storytelling. Interpreted, no booking required, meet at the Deaf Lounge at 2.30pm on Saturday.

Auslan Storytime – Get cosy in the Deaf lounge while Lynne Callaghan gives an Auslan reading of a selection of children’s stories. Interpreted, no bookings required.

Art Table – Drop into the Deaf Lounge/Festival hub for creative activities at the art table throughout the weekend. Join renowned author and illustrator Asphyxia on Sunday at 12pm to try your hand at collage. Interpreted, no bookings required.

Community Collaborative Painting – Try outdoor art! Deaf artist Kai Gecso-Thorndycraft leads a community painting project in the Quad. Interpreted, no bookings required. Meet at the Deaf Lounge at 2.30pm.
