Entries Closing Soon For BAM Art Prize

Offering both $5000 prize money and a unique visibility opportunity, the new BAM Art Prize offers a significant opportunity. Presented by Byron Arts Magazine, the prize is designed to promote awareness of the exceptional quality of arts in the Northern Rivers by presenting a national art prize within the region.

‘We are hoping for an excellent turnout of entries from local artists,’ said BAM Editor, Alana Wilson. ‘I am consistently impressed by the output of our regional artists, and I hope this prize will encourage artists in all stages of their career.’

The winner of the prize will be featured on the cover of Byron Arts Magazine, with an accompanying interview. Past covers include renowned local artists Michael Cusack, Hobie Porter and James Guppy.

Winners of all Highly Commended Awards will also be featured, and all finalists will be featured digitally. Byron Arts Magazine is a nationally distributed publication with a circulation of 10,000.

The inaugural prize will be presented on November 9, 2018. A 3-week finalists exhibition will be held at Byron Bay’s Thomgallery, November 9-30th. Thomgallery features contemporary art and sculptures from renowned local and international artists and sculptors.  ‘We are very happy to be supporting such an excellent initiative,’ said Gallery Director Alex Thom.

The prize is open to all artists, is non-acquisitive, and open to works of art in any medium, 2D and 3D.
