VAMP – Volunteer Museums Project Artist in Residence EOI

VAMP - Volunteer Museums Project Artist in Residence EOI

Expressions of Interest are being sought by volunteer run museums in the Clarence Valley Local Government Area to participate in the Volunteer Museums Project (VAMP) artist in residence program.

VAMP is a partnership project between Arts Northern Rivers and Orana Arts in Dubbo, connecting regional, volunteer-run museums in NSW with artists and creatives. Arts Northern Rivers has secured funding from Create NSW to deliver the VAMP artist residency project with two volunteer run museums in the Clarence Valley.

At the heart of the project is an opportunity for an artist to work with a museum and its collection to develop a creative response in their artform. The project will deliver several work-in-progress opportunities to engage the public and a final presentation of the artists’ work that we hope will attract new audiences to the participating museums.

The project aims to build the visitor economy and strengthen community engagement within local government areas and further aims to create future employment opportunities for First Nations artists in the region.

Arts Northern Rivers, working with Regional Museums consultant Joan Kelly, will create a residency program in partnership with two volunteer run museums based in the Clarence Valley. First Nations artists based in the Northern Rivers region will be engaged to participate and will work with the museum’s collection to inspire a creative response through their practice.

We are looking for two volunteer run museums in the Clarence Valley to participate in this opportunity. This application has been developed for museums to express their interest in participating and to give us some insights into the types of collections held by the museums and their capacity to contribute to the project.

Once the two museums have been selected Arts Northern Rivers, Joan Kelly and the artist will meet with the museum to discuss the project in more detail and to negotiate access and timing for the residency.

Expressions of interest are open from 1 June and close at 5pm on 30 June 2021.
