Stick 'Em Up Celebrates Music History in the Northern Rivers

‘Stick ‘Em Up’ is a snapshot of the amazing music history in the Northern Rivers and it’s resilience and evolution over the years, along with an insight into how it inspired generations of local musicians. The 327 page full colour poster book is compiled of local and international bands playing around the region over the past 4 decades, with posters from 1977 up until now.

The collaborative project between Ned Cain and Matt Mason began with their love of music and personal collection of posters from when they began watching shows in the 80’s. Ned had been scanning and digitising both his and his fathers collections when Matt returned from New Orleans with a poster book of the punk scene there in the 80’s & 90’s. This was the inspiration that drove them to publish something similar for the Northern Rivers.

Call outs over the last 18 months assisted Ned and Matt in collecting enough posters to result into the 327 page full colour poster book. Full of local original bands along with some some big national and international acts that stopped to play, the book features The Divinyls, Inxs, Powderfinger, Mental as Anything and many more.
