SITE LAB Program Blooms With a Community Planting

SITE LAB begins to bloom with a ‘Community Planting’ event with artist Merinda Davies – a collective planting and facilitated open conversation on the value of rest, dreaming and play during precarious times.

Artist Merinda Davies is inviting the Lismore and surrounding community to come together at the Lismore Quadrangle for an afternoon of planting native violet flowers for ‘Resting Space, Moving Space, Breathing Space’. After and during the planting we will hold an open facilitated conversation on slowing down, resting, dreaming and imagining during urgent times in the larger context of the Anthropocene.

Bring: Hat/sunscreen we will be outdoors.
Garden gloves if you have them, there will also be some available.
Accessibility: this event will be happening on the grassy lawn at The Quad and involves gentle gardening, if this is not an option you are welcome to come and be in the space while we plant.

This project is part of SITE LAB // Small Gestures Towards Infinity – a series of five temporary public art projects and a free program of artist talks, live listening events and sculptural activations happening in Lismore CBD over 29 July – 17 September 2023. SITE LAB is presented by Arts Northern Rivers and Lismore Regional Gallery, with support from the NSW Government through Create NSW.
