Creative Data Desk: Helping you use industry research to grow your work

Following the launch of the Northern Rivers research report, Who We Are, researcher Tandi Palmer Williams from Patternmakers will be supporting you to understand the data from the report and how to apply it to your work.

Free 30-minute consultations are available on the first Wednesday of each month, beginning in May 2025, at the ANR office in Lismore or online.

How might this be useful to you?

  • Grant applications: Artists and organisations can use the data to provide robust evidence and statistics to support their grant applications.
  • Report writing: When writing reports, artists and organisations can draw on the data and analysis in Who We Are to provide important context and evidence.
  • Program design: Organisations can use the report's findings regarding needs and opportunities to design new or update existing programs to be relevant and targeted to the Northern Rivers creative sector.
  • Strategic planning: The report offers critical insights to inform future strategies for support, investment, and infrastructure development in the region. Independent artists and organisations can use this information to inform their own strategic planning and identify potential areas for growth or collaboration.
  • Advocacy: The report’s data can be used to advocate effectively for the resources and support artists and organisations require by highlighting the sector's significant contributions and challenges. The report's findings can also be used to advocate for issues such as the need for spaces or fair pay for artists.
  • Cross-sector projects: The data is also valuable for cross-over projects, such as those focused on health, the environment, and socially engaged community projects. Artists working in these areas can also use the report to demonstrate the intersection of their practice with these fields and build stronger collaborations.
  • Understanding the creative landscape: The report helps local independent creatives, creative businesses, and organisations learn about the Northern Rivers current creative landscape and see the impact of the arts and culture industries reflected in the data. This understanding can help with considering future audience demands and identifying potential partners or collaborators.
